Introduction to M365Suite

M365Suite helps Microsoft 365 teams preserve SharePoint navigation before a migration, redesign, or accidental change makes reconstruction necessary.

What the product does

M365Suite discovers SharePoint sites, creates per-site backup versions, and lets authorized users inspect, export, compare, or restore a selected version. Administrators can also approve a known-good version as a Change Watch baseline and compare a current navigation scan against it without creating another backup version.

A backup can include the navigation data M365Suite reads for that site, including top navigation, quick launch, hub-related navigation data when available, and audience targeting references. The exact captured data depends on what SharePoint returns for the site.

The operating flow

1. An administrator connects the tenant through the shared app or a supported BYOA app in Settings & Access.
2. An administrator discovers sites and waits for classification to finish in Estate Explorer.
3. An authorized user selects sites in Estate Explorer and creates backups. Each site receives its own version history.
4. Authorized users open a site's history in Recovery Center to inspect versions, compare available version data, export a version, or restore navigation.
5. Administrators use Change Control to approve a baseline, run a current-state scan, review the severity and explanation of differences, and acknowledge expected changes.

Command Center workspaces

• Operations shows coverage, recovery, schedule, plan-limit, and Change Watch attention.
• Estate Explorer is the site inventory for discovery, filtering, selection, and manual backups. See Site Discovery & Classification and Running Backups.
• Change Control is the review queue for Change Watch results and their linked site evidence. See Change Watch.
• Recovery Center contains protected-site history, version evidence, exports, comparison, and restore readiness. See Restoring Navigation Settings.
• Settings & Access contains connection, BYOA, backup policy, plan, data residency, and tenant safeguards. Access & Roles is shown to administrators who can manage people and scopes; see Team & Roles.

What a restore changes

Restore is the product's write action. It writes the captured structural top navigation and quick launch nodes for the selected site. It does not restore page content, lists, SharePoint permissions, themes, hub membership, or the web design settings captured for reference.

Access and plans

• Admins have tenant-wide access and can manage connection and backup settings.
• Scoped managers can work only inside their assigned hub, site, or site-type scope.
• Viewers are read-only.
• Guests must request access or receive an invitation.
• Site capacity, version retention, schedules, BYOA availability, and API access depend on the tenant plan. The plan shown in the Settings & Access rail context and plan section is the source of truth for current entitlements.

Security and data region

M365Suite uses Microsoft Entra authentication for portal sign-in. The shared connection and BYOA connection use certificate-based application authentication for SharePoint operations. Discovery and backup are read operations. Restore requires SharePoint Sites.Manage.All application permission because it writes navigation.

The product assigns a US or EU data region from the tenant directory. Administrators cannot select a different region in the portal.
