Using Navigation Versions as Change Evidence

SharePoint navigation is configuration, not a document library. When a menu changes, the useful question is often not only who made the change but also which known-good navigation state should be restored.

M365Suite addresses that operational problem by keeping per-site navigation versions that authorized users can inspect and compare.

What M365Suite can show

For a protected site, the version history can provide:

• The backup versions available for that site
• Backup timestamps and captured navigation-node counts
• Exportable JSON and Excel representations of a version
• Comparison data between selected versions when available
• Restore actions recorded by the application

This is backup and recovery evidence. It is not a replacement for Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Entra audit records, legal retention, or your organization’s compliance process.

Use a version history during an incident

1. Identify the affected SharePoint site.
2. Open its history in Recovery Center.
3. Review recent versions and export the relevant version if an external review is required.
4. Compare versions when comparison is available.
5. Create a current backup if you need a new checkpoint.
6. Restore only after reviewing the selected version and confirming the action.

M365Suite records the navigation state it captures. It does not claim to audit every SharePoint action or replace broader Microsoft 365 backup, eDiscovery, or compliance tooling.
